Yes, it's campaign season for one of the most important seats in the upcoming election. That position is District 7 At-Large on the Atlanta Board of Education. It is important because it holds an essential key to the success of our children's future. Our most precious resource, the children, will be placed into the hands of the victor who will oversee the process to enhance their lives. It will also dictate the look and feel of our neighborhoods as development rolls through our backyards.
The tattered history of Atlanta Public Schools has shown us that the current board members could care less about the children they were sworn to serve and protect. Even after the worst cheating scandal in U.S. history committed against our children, these board members chose to close and/or merge their schools without any remediation or a solid transition plan. They allowed them be called failures by the governor and hired the architect for his Opportunity School District (OSD). Finally, they allowed the mayor to pay an amount of money significantly less than what is owed the children in the district. This is a reoccurring theme in Atlanta in which business interests are more important than our children's best interests.
Our children deserve the best! That is what they are going to get! All Atlanta Public School employees, which includes teachers, bus drivers and custodians, will have a work environment in which they can thrive and be excited to work in. The "Culture of Fear and Intimidation" will be no more! As your next Atlanta School Board Member representing District 7 At-Large, you can count on my boundless love for our children and my continued tenacity to advocate for what is right. I have the experience to get the job done and I intend to work collaboratively with my fellow board members for the ultimate success of Atlanta Public Schools.
The leadership of Atlanta Public Schools has boldly interfered with the 2017 school board race. According to the AJC, there exist a superintendent who donates money to a sitting school board member. There is also the issue of APS leadership violating my First Amendment Rights as a citizen and a candidate. The general counsel and the executive director of APS are contacting organizations to rescind their invitations to my campaign by disparaging my name. This has happened upon two occasions where they invited my campaign, only to take the invitation back. The organization where the invites were rescinded were North Atlanta High School PTSA and NAPPS (North Atlanta Parents for Public Schools). Please see emails below:
Dear Mr. Dyer,
Since sending this invitation, the PTSA has been advised by APS General Council that you are not allowed on APS property, including schools, through 12/31/17. Accordingly, we must rescind the invitation to you to attend this meeting.

We must rescind our invitation to you for the candidate forum to be held Wednesday at Sutton Middle School. It was brought to our attention that you have been served notice by APS Police that you are not allowed on any APS property for the remainder of 2017. Please note that we have shared your video on our Facebook page.
